£5 per person
Zakat al-Fitr, also known as Fitrana, is a compulsory charity that every Muslim must give at the end of Ramadan before the Eid prayer.
Its purpose is twofold:
• To purify the fasting person from any shortcomings during Ramadan
• To provide food and relief for the poor, allowing them to share in the celebration of Eid
Zakat al-Fitr was made obligatory in the second year of Hijrah, the same year fasting in Ramadan was prescribed — highlighting the close connection between fasting and caring for those in need.
Every Muslim who has the means should give Fitrana for themselves and for those in their care, including children.
At Rise Support, your Fitrana is used to provide food packs, meals and essential aid to vulnerable families so they can experience the blessings of Eid.
Fitrana is traditionally equivalent to the value of one meal for a person in need.
For 2026, the recommended amount is:
£5 per person
This means a household of 5 would give £25.
Giving early allows Rise Support to distribute aid before Eid, ensuring families receive support in time to celebrate.
